Trưa nay có thì giờ rảnh, tôi đi tìm nhạc để lồng vào danh sách 1000+/- bài nhạc hay của mình. http://hoctroviet.blogspot.com/p/1000-bai-nhac-tuyen-viet-nam.html. Vì mỗi bài phải dùng cái blog bên trang kia để đỡ đánh vào tên bài http://hoctroyoutube2010.blogspot.com/2010/08/1000-bai-nhac-tuyen-viet-nam.html , rồi khi ấn vào tên một bài sẽ tìm thấy những ai đã post bài đó lên youtube, rồi tìm nghe và lựa ra bài hay nhất. Cả 2 tiếng mới plug được khoảng 40 bài, coi bộ danh sách 1000 bài này còn lâu lắm mới làm xong, vì ít khi bị rảnh như vầy lắm. :-)
Anyhow, khi đi tới bài Chỉ có ta trong một đời của nhạc sĩ Trịnh Công Sơn, tôi hy vọng ai đó sẽ post lên version này do ca sĩ Thiên Phượng hát, và anh Duy Cường hòa âm. Sở dĩ nói "hy vọng", vì tôi nghe lần đầu bài này do cô ấy hát, mà không biết bạn có như vậy hay không, chứ tôi thì ai hát lần đầu là nhớ hoài cách hát đó, sau đó ai hát tôi cũng không thấy hay nữa. Cũng chính ở điểm này mà tôi rất thích các bài Lê Uyên Phương do Thiên Phượng hát, Duy Cường hòa âm (dĩa CD Đá Xanh), còn cũng những bài ấy mà do Lê Uyên và Phương song ca thì dù ai khen cách mấy tôi cũng không thể cảm được.

Chia sẻ hay chia xẻ?

Bạn Pika Rock có nhã ý hỏi phần description mà tôi mới sửa phải là "chia sẻ" thay vì "chia xẻ". Khi viết thì tôi cũng theo quán tính thôi, nhớ sao viết vậy. Chắc tiếng Việt ngày nay chấp nhận cả hai chữ, việc này tôi không có ý kiến.
Tuy nhiên, tôi thử giở quyển tự điển Việt Hán Tối Tân cùa Ô. Huỳnh Minh Xuân ở nhà ra xem thì không thấy nhắc đến chữ "chia sẻ". Tôi chụp và mang lên đây để bạn đọc tham khảo.Chữ chia xẻ có thí dụ là "chia xẻ nỗi buồn", cũng như ý tôi là "chia xẻ" nhạc với các bạn. Ấn vào hình để xem rõ hơn.

John Mayer - Your Body Is A Wonderland

Sáng nay có thì giờ rảnh, đọc lại một quyển sách mà tôi có giới thiệu trong một bài viết trước là "The Billboard Guide to writing and producing songs that sell" http://hoctroviet.blogspot.com/2010/01/cong-thuc-e-viet-mot-bai-nhac-noi-tieng.html , tác giả nhấn mạnh là muốn một bài nhạc nổi tiếng, bài phải có ít nhất là một cái hook (dịch sát là lưỡi câu cá). Ông nói thêm là một cái hook chưa đủ, ít ra là phải có thêm 1 cái hook cỡ vừa khác, và một số các hooks "chìm" khác nữa. Hook lớn để bắt cá lớn, hook vừa bắt cá cỡ vừa, còn các hooks con bắt hồn thính giả khoái nghe mấy cái tỉ mỉ, tidbits như tôi ...:-)
Quả không sai, trong khi thưởng thức bài Your Body Is A Wonderland ( thân thể em là xứ thần tiên), tôi thấy anh John Mayer dùng rất nhiều hooks như sau.
Hook chính: câu tựa bài ( Your body is a wonderland ) lặp đi lặp lại, làm người nghe nhớ tên và motif của bài.
Hook phụ: nền guitar lặp đi lặp lại chord progression F5 F5/C F5/Bb F5/C, tạo nền cho John trình bày cảm hứng.
Các hooks nhỏ khác:
- lời nhạc rất suggestive, nói ít hiểu nhiều, hiểu sao cũng được,
- đoạn chơi nhạc cụ gần cuối bài trước khi về điệp khúc (damn baby, you frustrated me ...) nghe như anh đang bơi trong bể yêu đương ...
Nói chung đây là một bài nhạc rất hay, không trách sư phụ Milton Okun phải cho bài này vào trong collection Great songs of 2000-2009 của ông ( http://hoctroyoutube2010.blogspot.com/2010/09/great-songs-of-2000-2009.html )

Từ cảm giác đánh bài nhạc thấy dễ dễ, nhưng cũng hay hay, của hai cuốn sách tôi mới mua hôm qua, tôi tò mò tìm tiểu sử của ông Editor của loạt sách này, Milton Okun.

Trong một bài bào phỏng vấn ông Okun, tôi được biết chính ông là người soạn hai tay cho dương cầm của cả bộ nhạc trên, chứ không chỉ làm mỗi việc là chọn những bài hát hay, như sách đơn giản đề là "edited by milton okun". Hóa ra "edited" đây đúng theo nghĩa đen, tức là "biên tập" hay nói rõ ra là soạn hòa âm, hai tay. Thường thì khi một tên tuổi làm vấn đề biên tập này, họ thường hay nói văn hoa là "transcribed for piano", hay "piano arrangement by ..".
đây là bài phỏng vấn, tựa bài cho thấy người phỏng vấn cũng bị lầm như tôi!

(chỗ in đậm: Thêm vào đó, tôi thêm vào một nét nhạc hay một hợp âm đặc sắc, làm tăng gia vị cay mặn cho bản hòa âm (arrangement). Các người soạn bài nhạc (cho đàn piano) trước đây thường không chú ý lắm về khoản này.)
Lấy thử một bài mẫu thì thấy ngay sự sáng tạo của ông, bài All I Have To Do Is Dream
Dòng cuối cùng, tay trái ta thấy cách soạn rất "dễ thương": mi, mi do ti la / mi re fa / mi ...Cách đánh này làm các nốt bass đi liền nhau, mà lại tạo một cái nhịp (rhythm) rất melodic, thay vì kiểu chơi cù lần của tôi nếu dùng là chỉ đánh nốt bass chính của chord: mi do / la ti / v.v.
Tay phải cũng vậy, thay vì chỉ đơn điệu đánh các nốt nhạc của giai điệu, nay vì tay trái đã đánh melodic bass, thì tay phải phải chêm vào hợp âm cho đầy âm thanh - nhưng - thay vì chỉ cho nốt vào cho có lệ, ông cho các nốt trong hợp âm liền nhau cũng đi lên, đi xuống, nhìn thấy rất ham!!!
Nói tóm lại, các bạn nào chơi nhạc, hay có con em chơi nhạc, nên đi tìm bộ sách này và mua thử một cuốn rồi về đánh theo. Sách này không có bán trong tiệm đâu, nếu có tôi biết liền, vì tôi tới thăm tiệm sách (không chỉ một mà còn lê la khắp Orange County, rồi lấn qua Long Beach's Borders' stores luôn:-) hàng tuần :-) Tôi sắp có thêm 3 cuốn nữa là 5 cuốn rồi, và sẽ từ từ mua hết cả bộ, hay ít ra là mua các quyển sau. Tôi đã làm link để bạn vào nghe nhạc cho tiện, trước khi đặt mua sách :-) :

Với tôi, blog là một phương tiện trao dồi kỹ năng làm web: HTML, CSS, và JavaScript - ngoài ra là thú vui ráp nhạc vào để nghe cho lẹ (thay vì search trong youtube từng bài), rồi giới thiệu với các bạn nữa. Lấy thử một bài mẫu thì thấy ngay sự sáng tạo của ông, bài All I Have To Do Is Dream
Dòng cuối cùng, tay trái ta thấy cách soạn rất "dễ thương": mi, mi do ti la / mi re fa / mi ...Cách đánh này làm các nốt bass đi liền nhau, mà lại tạo một cái nhịp (rhythm) rất melodic, thay vì kiểu chơi cù lần của tôi nếu dùng là chỉ đánh nốt bass chính của chord: mi do / la ti / v.v.
Tay phải cũng vậy, thay vì chỉ đơn điệu đánh các nốt nhạc của giai điệu, nay vì tay trái đã đánh melodic bass, thì tay phải phải chêm vào hợp âm cho đầy âm thanh - nhưng - thay vì chỉ cho nốt vào cho có lệ, ông cho các nốt trong hợp âm liền nhau cũng đi lên, đi xuống, nhìn thấy rất ham!!!
Nói tóm lại, các bạn nào chơi nhạc, hay có con em chơi nhạc, nên đi tìm bộ sách này và mua thử một cuốn rồi về đánh theo. Sách này không có bán trong tiệm đâu, nếu có tôi biết liền, vì tôi tới thăm tiệm sách (không chỉ một mà còn lê la khắp Orange County, rồi lấn qua Long Beach's Borders' stores luôn:-) hàng tuần :-) Tôi sắp có thêm 3 cuốn nữa là 5 cuốn rồi, và sẽ từ từ mua hết cả bộ, hay ít ra là mua các quyển sau. Tôi đã làm link để bạn vào nghe nhạc cho tiện, trước khi đặt mua sách :-) :

Series "Great songs ..." còn nhiều quyển sách khác, nhưng tôi chỉ "kết mô đen" có mấy quyển nói trên thôi.
Ai bảo làm blog chỉ để vui chơi cho qua ngày, hay viết nhật ký linh tinh? Với tôi, blog là một phương tiện trao dồi kỹ năng làm web: HTML, CSS, và JavaScript - ngoài ra là thú vui ráp nhạc vào để nghe cho lẹ (thay vì search trong youtube từng bài), rồi giới thiệu với các bạn nữa. Đúng là "Khỏe bổ rẻ" (không những rẻ mà còn miễn phí) :-)))))
